Hello, Poetry Friend
I am so pleased to have another poem featured in the summer poetry issue from The Clayjar Review.
For many years I have loved a post by Laura Lynn Brown that includes this fabulous word: pomegranatelessness. I’ve been toying with my own pomegranate poem ever since. It seems all I needed was for H-E-B to put them on sale, 2 for $3, near Christmastime. And a little more time for ripening.
POMEGRANATE Her penance: peel a pomegranate, bring tough skin to heel. Megan Willome * Read the rest of the poem in the Summer Breeze issue of The Clayjar Review
Laura’s pomegranatelessness post includes a recipe for Roasted Butternut Squash with Pomegranate and Arugula. My poem is not a cooking recipe, but it seems to be a recipe for a writing-something.
What recipe does your poem need to embrace?
Happy poeming!
Megan
Oh, Megan, I love this poem. It's so--delicious. Wonderful sounds! I can taste the fruit, feel the sweet pop of the seeds between my teeth.
I’ve never tasted a pomegranate - I’m not the bravest at trying unfamiliar foods - but your poem challenges me to reconsider. 😊
