Hello, Poetry Friend
Earlier this week Callie Feyen—aka Birthday Girl—posted her poem inspired by Psalm 24. Mine poem is different and not only because today is not my birthday. But because each of us walks this journey of faith differently.
I wrote this poem for All Saints Day, when I got to sing Psalm 24. (It was in English, but the hymns and the Gospel Acclamation were in Spanish … whoopee!)
Psalm 24 All Saints Day O my King, I long to see you But the beat between pain waves is a door I shut against love, even yours O my King, I long to see you But the hawks fly away to a mountain I cannot ascend with my little boat O my King, I long to see you But your earth sits upon seas, balances upon rivers, and I tire of treading water O my King, I long to see you But I am only a church mouse in a coracle — not Reepicheep, not a saint O my King, I long to see you You must flood my doors, ascend me on waves up and away, into your house –Megan Willome
Happy poeming!

This speaks my heart, too.
