Hello, Poetry Friend
Shhh … I have a secret. I’ve been poeming the Psalms for more than a year. Callie Feyen has seen them, but no one else has. (Okay, I let my husband read one, but only last weekend.)
Can I share with you?
Almost every weekend I have the immense privilege, as a cantor, to lead the congregation in a call-and-response singing of the psalm from the daily readings. Tomorrow night I’ll sing Psalm 32. Here’s my poem, inspired by it.
Psalm 32 Divine Remedy The thorn, so slim slipped in so terribly burnt orange. It didn’t hurt— just a July rose (Abandon all hope, Ye who enter) oh, how it did linger— a dragon, scales shining me, ever pining until finally, finally I dared bared it scared told Him together, we swim. –Megan Willome
Happy poeming!
Megan
Oh, Megan, thank you for sharing this....I'm inspired. I've written to poems-as-psalms; maybe I'll try my hand at another.
