Lovely, Megan. Like Laura, I love the sparrow's surprise appearance. And I relate to the hazards of precious tile and gravel. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma 1 1/2 yrs ago, I have multiple bone lesions that make me a high risk for fractures. Needless to say, I'm very, very careful. =)

Curiosity led me to search for Anne Porter's poem, as well. I've had her book Living Things saved in my amazon acct. for....several years. I think it's time I finally ordered it.

Ooh, I haven't read that one. Please let me know how it is! I'm always going through a poetry collection, so I collect suggestions.

I did not know about your diagnosis, Patricia, but it makes sense that you would need to be very, very careful. This poem was written for a friend who found her life suddenly changed. It changes the way we walk in it.
